Cupping Review: Archer Farms Honduras Coffee

Some of you asked me what I thought of the Archer Farms Honduras coffee I found at Target the other day. So here is my official cupping review:

The first thing that stood out about this coffee was its intense sweet fragrance with amazing chocolate, pipe tobacco, and even Icy Hot aromas. Sounds crazy, but I swear I could smell Icy Hot in there.

Once wet, however, the fragrance went slightly savory and the aroma changed to fruity and sweet with smoky BBQ sauce. The flavor was sweet and mild, which is very characteristic of Central American coffees. And it had a clean, crisp acidity with medium body and a light, smoky finish.

This coffee is good, but not great. It is nicely balanced, though, so it offers a little bit of everything without being too overwhelming. So if you are the kind of person that doesn’t like your coffee too intense or bold, then you’ll definitely want to try this one.
